The Monthly Meeting of the Council was held on Thursday 7th April 2016 at 6.00 pm in the Community Centre.

County Member Matters Arising
5/16 (a) Aqueduct: The examination has now taken
and we are awaiting the report from Network Rail
(b) Toilet block on Square – Cllr Davies reported that
the demolition has now been completed. The suggestion
of a bench being placed on the site was discussed.
However following objections from members and residents
at Ardwyn Terr it was agreed to review this at a later date
16/16 – SWTRA. Councillor Davies reported that the
underpass had been inspected and was now clear.
SWTRA have now
written to the Welsh Government to establish responsibility.
Cllr Davies also reported that the one way system for all
streets off Commercial Road anddexcepting John Street
will be done in the coming financial year.

28/16 – Revamp of MUGA –. Due to concern that a lack
of communication might lead to similar schemes being
commenced at the same time, it was suggested that relevant
parties (i.e. Rugby and Football Clubs) be contacted to arrange
a joint meeting.
32/16 – Post office box – Following removal of the post box
from the old post office the Royal Mail has advised that it
will not be re-locating this box if there is another box within 150/200yds of the new post office.
42/16. Cyber and Resource Centre
Following the resignation of 2 Trustees it was agreed to
appoint Cllr Redvers Davies and Cllr Adrian Bradley to the

It was agreed to hold a litter pick on Saturday 16th April

i) – Letter of intent from Infinis – Contractor for the Melin Court Wind Farm has confirmed that the community fund will be
for the benefit of the Resolven Ward
(ii) – Review of Community Arrangements in the Borough of
(ii) – Report from Community Safety Partnership following
security inspection of the Bowling Club premises.
(v) – Letters from Resolven Community Events regarding use
of field and donation to the Carnival. It was agreed to use of
the field and further details required for donation.

47/16 School Governor’s Report
The closed Clyne school pupils have integrated well with
Ynys Fach Primary School pupils. A temporary member of
staff has applied for a full time post at the school.
The School is also on target for an attendance rate of 95%.
48/16 Chairman’s Report
Chairman reported that the mowers are now up and running
and it is expected that this will reduce the costs of maintenance
in the parks.
Arrangements to be made for the Park Keeper to have First Aid
and Health and Safety Training
50/16 Councillors reports
A suggestion has been put forward for a mirror to be placed on
the triple junction at Neath Road to make the area safer, and
for some sort of barrier outside the new Post Office following
a report of 2 near accidents.
This item was passed to our County Member.
The next meeting will be held on 5th May 2016 at 6pm at
the Community Centre and will include the Annual Meeting
