The Monthly Meeting of the Council was held on Thursday 5th May 2016 at 6.00 pm in the Community Centre.

County Member Matters Arising
5/16 (a) Aqueduct: The examination has now taken place
and we are awaiting the report.
55/16  Clerk’s report and Council Matters Arising/

28/16 – Revamp of MUGA –. Due to concern that a lack
of communication might lead to similar schemes being
commenced at the same time, it was suggested that relevant
parties (i.e. Rugby and Football Clubs) be contacted to
arrange a joint meeting.
i) Children’s Park
The large swings and children’s slide have been removed
due to being beyond repair.
ii) School Growing Beds
4 raised beds have been completed and the school children
have attended to plant various plants. Many thanks to all
who have helped with this project. It is hoped to have more
beds in the future.
6/16Â Â Correspondence Received/Gohebiaith
i) – Resolven Events Committee re donation. A request was
received from the Carnival Committee for a grant of £350
to sponsor and event for the children This was agreed
with the proviso that the Community Council would
be named as the sponsor and the hand washing facilities
would be of a high standard. We would also like to thank
the Carnival Committee for all the hard work they put
into this event.
Resolved to donate £350 to the Carnival

the Community Benefit Fund.

The minutes of the meeting on 28th April 2016 were accepted
as a true record.
The draft accounts for the year 2015/2016 and approved.

59/16  School Governor’s Report
Cllr Brenda John attended a moderation meeting at
Ynys Fach School, which went through the assessment
of yrs 2 and 6 at level 4 and 5, Cllr John was very impressed
with the improvement in their results. A course on
Safeguarding, Children at Risk was also attended.
60/16Â Â Patients Participation Meeting
The focus of the meeting was funding for an Electric Hook
Up for the new centre, which would allow screening for
breast cancer chemotherapy, along with other uses.
The subject of a defibrillator for Resolven was also discussed. Whilst in general this is considered a good idea, the matter
of housing the item, and who would use the machine
need further investigation.
61/16  Chairman’s Report
The incoming Chairman Cllr Aylwin Jones outlined his vision
for the coming year. He stated the need to consolidate the
change of working practices in the park, and clean up the village
by making people aware of their responsibilities towards litter.
He outlined the need for financial prudence given the
financial restraints placed upon us, and advised that we will
have to run far more closely to the precept than in previous
years, whilst still maintaining the improvement of, and
support to the community.
To further consider Community projects with the help
of grants, and be fully involved in the development Ffynon O’er,
Pen Y Coedd and Infinis wind farms, making sure that our
written grant applications are of the highest standard. In this
issue is our new      challenge, but we as a Community Council
need to step up to the new processes of funding and embrace
these opportunities.
He thanked Cllr Redvers Davies as outgoing Chairman
and welcomed Cllr Trefor Jones as the new Vice Chair.

Arrangements to be made for the Park Keeper to have
Health and Safety Training

A proposal was put forward that the meetings start at 6.15pm
in the future to allow members who work to attend. This was agreed and Standing Orders will be amended as required.
The next meeting will be held on 2nd June 2016 at 6.15pm
at the Community Centre
