16/25 Chairman’s Report
The Chair advised that the library has had a grant to repair the windows and install a new toilet with a grant from Ffynon Oer, and that the children from the school are now attending the library each week
There is still an urgent need for new volunteers to help out as there is no spare to cover sickness and holidays.
17/25 Councillors Reports
A Report on the liaison meeting of Neath Port Talbot Borough Council, and the Town and Community Councils.
The meeting was held at the Civic Centre in Port Talbot on Monday the 27th of February, it was a hybrid meeting with the majority attending online. The new Chief Executive, Frances O’Brien was present for the first time.
Future meetings will be held in Neath Civic Centre.
There were no Town and Community Council items, therefore the short meeting consisted of a breakdown of the Budget for 2025-26. NPT had received an increase of 4.4% which was very slightly above the average. This left the authority with a shortfall of £15 million on a proposed budget of £376.5 million in expenditure of which some 75% was in the form of RSV. Some £8 million had already been saved by cuts, but the remainder had to be tackled via a rise in council tax of around 7% subject to the finalisation of the Welsh Government’s budget in March. There were no compulsory redundancies and the proposed change to a
3 week refuse collection had been turned down.
Trefor Jones.
