Prior to the meeting, a group of residents attended to express their concerns regarding the proposed 3G pitch project in Resolven Park. A lengthy discussion followed, covering several issues, including storm and sewage drainage, light pollution, the pitch’s height in relation to the lane, the height of the proposed netting, risk assessments for the dance club, as well as parking and access via John Street during construction.
While members did their best to address these questions, it was noted that the project remains at the proposal stage. Although significant groundwork has been undertaken — including quotations and grant applications — not all information is available at this time and likely will not be until work commences. The project is currently at the feasibility stage, with ongoing discussions with potential grant providers. There is no guarantee that the project will proceed until all avenues have been fully explored.
When all information is available there will be further community consultation. It is also confirmed that there has been no cost to the Community Council to date.
